1-How do you feel being the director of such an important school?

It’s a lot of responsibility and I am very lucky to have this team of coordinators. It’s an infant school, primary school, ESO and baccalaureate school. The coordinators do a lot of work and they help a lot, they are a very good team!

2-When you were a small kid did you imagine yourself being the director of a school?

Not at all, I had never imagined myself leaving Ireland, imagined myself living in Barcelona, I never thought I would end up being the director of a school.

3- When you moved to Barcelona, you already knew you wanted to be in the school?

No, I studied to be a teacher when I was at university, and that’s what I always wanted.

4-Do you like children?

I do, a lot, if you do not like children you cannot be a teacher. So I do, I do like children.

5-How did you get to the direction of the school?

It is a difficult question; basically they decided they wanted more international process and they decided I was the best candidate.

6- Have you been for a long time in the school?

Eight years now, I was teacher, coordinator at primary school, in the English department

7- Do you arrive really tired to your house at night?

Yes, I come to the school every day at 8:15 in the morning and I leave most days at 8 p.m. so it is almost 12 hours a day.

8- Can you explain us a little bit your daily routine?

One of my main jobs is to be sure the school is working correctly and I do that through the coordinators, through the departments and through the teachers. And then, the other thing is to attend parents, for example questions, possible problems… Also families visiting the school, families who want to come to the school. Basically my job is to keep the parents happy, the teachers happy and the students happy.

9-What image do you think girls with short skirts give to the school?

I think that a part of learning is learning how to dress in different occasions. For example, when you go to school, you wear uniform. There is a correct way of wearing the uniform. When you go to the beach, to parties, to a disco… There are different clothes. I think it is important to know how to dress in the correct occasion, it is a learning process. Once you are out in the real world, you will need to know how to dress properly.

10-Have you ever imagined yourself being a kid and wearing the trousers lower than normal and showing your bottom?

No, I come from Ireland and it is very cold and wet there, so no. It is a fashion I think but in Ireland it is not, this can be given by the hot climate we have here. But again, like I said earlier, it is a question on what you think is correct, if you think that coming to school with the trousers down… Probably not.

11- When you were at school all these things happened?

Not really, but the skirts yes, always, it was an issue in pur culture, and now a days, in most schools girls do not wear skirts, they wear trousers, and one of the reasons why thay wear trousers is because every time the skirts get shorter and shorter and shorter. And teachers and parents kept wasting so much time that they decided to stop and to make them wear trousers.

12- Do you thimk that one day this will be implemented in our school?

I do not think so, because in this school, most of the girls wear thair uniform properly, even there is always that small group that does not.

13- How was the atmosphere of your school?

The atmosphere was very different, every generation is different, mine was a generation before internet, before globalization, we were more separate countries, and Ireland is an island so there was not much foreigners trafficking through the island. I think it was an easiest generation, I think your generation is much more complex, much more advanced, that is not good or bad, only different.

06/02/2013 - Yo, cubo de Rubik

by Victor G.

by Claudia F.

31/05/2012 - This summer earn your own money !

by Nil & Dani

Time is money
Time is money

For earning some pocket money you could ask your family o friends if they want to give you some work to do, like washing cars, cleaning the house, preparing lemon juice, or food.

If they don’t need help you could try to go to get a job into a little shop like a bike shop, coffee shop,...

Me and my girlfriend

There are many camps to choose from if you are a teenager, motocross camps, military camps etcetera.

This summer I would like to do nothing related to summer camps, just chillout, sleep, go to the beach, to the pool, go out with my friends, with my girl, go to new places to discover more about this world, play and the most important thing that I will do this summer is to have fun.

I will go to Fairefield (Connecticut) to visit my dad, I will go to Ibiza for a week and I will go to la Cerdanya.

Usually the summer camps that are available for teenagers which are 16 years old, are camps which involve adventure and action. They are camps, or trips which take you to locations where there is a lot of wilderness, like Hawaii, or places which are desertic, like the Sahara desert, or even places like Texas. These kind of camps are more age apropiate since they involve responsibility and teamwork, two things that most children which are young do not have or do.
My idea of a summer camp is exploring the wilderness. Go camping in a nice fresh forest hidden from most of the suns heat, and spend a couple of days with a group of friends and have a nice party, but during summer, what I mainly do, is sit around in my house with a cold drink and a nice movie, or maybe a videogame.
